He is the Corporation Secretary and General Counsel at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) with over fifteen (15) years’ post-admission experience and more than a decade in the legal and corporate governance milieu.
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Practicing Certified Secretary, Governance Auditor, Energy Sector Regulatory Specialist, Public Private Partnerships (CP3P) professional, and an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner. He is an active member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries Kenya, Chartered Governance Institute (London), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya & London), Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), World Association of PPP Units and Professionals (WAPPP), and a member of the Harvard Business Review.
He has previously held leadership positions as a Legal Counsel (Infrastructure Finance & Public Private Partnerships – PPP Directorate), Chief Legal Officer, and Legal Services Manager at the National Treasury, Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC, and Equity Bank of Kenya, respectively, among others.
He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Public Finance & Financial Services Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), both from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
He additionally holds a Master’s Certificate in Sustainable Infrastructure Financing and Development from York University, Canada, is a Certified Energy Markets Regulatory and Renewable Energy Specialist from the Florence School of Regulation, European University Institute (Italy), and Power Futures Lab, University of Cape Town. He has also completed several programmes in Leadership, Governance, Strategy, Public Private Partnerships, FIDIC, and Commercial and Investment Arbitration from leading institutions including Oxford University, Strathmore University, University of Queensland, King’s College London, International Law Institute, Georgetown Law Center, Queen Mary University London and ICSID. He is currently pursuing Master of Science specializing in Corporate Governance at the Leeds Beckett University, UK.
He is a recipient of multiple accolades and legal excellence awards, including the Institute of Certified Secretaries Commendation. He has been featured in the Legal500 General Counsel Power List (2025 & 2024) and was named Public Sector Lawyer of the Year (2022) by the Law Society of Kenya. Passionate about governance (board and executive effectiveness), he has served as a Council Member and Assistant Honorary Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya), as a board member with the World Vision (Kenya) and Anglican Development Services Eastern, and as an Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee member of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Office of the Attorney General & Department of Justice, Kenya, the Law Society of Kenya, and the Institute of Certified Secretaries (Kenya).
