Strategic leadership today demands more than compliance. Boards are expected to anticipate disruption, manage complex risks, and ensure that strategy execution aligns with long-term value creation. Many governance failures stem not from weak structures, but from limited board engagement, understanding, and execution.
The Strategy, Audit and Risk Oversight (SARO) Program by the Institute of Directors (Kenya) is a practical, high-impact training designed to enhance board and committee performance in strategic governance, risk oversight, and audit assurance.
Through interactive discussions, case studies, and peer learning, the program equips directors and senior executives with practical tools to interrogate strategy, identify and manage emerging risks, and strengthen audit systems that ensure transparency, accountability, and resilience.
Objectives
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Deepen their understanding of the board’s role in driving and reviewing corporate strategy.
- Enhance oversight of enterprise risk management (ERM) and internal control systems.
- Apply practical tools to guide and interrogate the audit process effectively.
