About This Event

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the heartbeat of Kenya’s economy. They drive job creation, innovation, and local economic resilience. Yet, many face governance and structural challenges that limit their growth, sustainability, and attractiveness to investors.

The MSMEs Governance Workshop by the Institute of Directors (Kenya) provides MSME founders, directors, and managers with the knowledge and tools to embed sound governance practices within their enterprises. This transformative program explores how good governance can become a strategic enabler for competitiveness, access to capital, and long-term value creation.

Through interactive sessions, case studies, and peer dialogue, participants will learn how to establish clear accountability systems, strengthen financial oversight, and position their enterprises for sustainable growth. The program balances practicality and vision—translating governance concepts into tools that MSMEs can apply immediately within their operations.

Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  1. Apply governance principles relevant to their enterprise’s scaling and growth stage.
  2. Strengthen board and management accountability structures.
  3. Explore strategies for formalization, access to finance, and sustainable expansion.
  4. Engage in peer learning and dialogue on MSME governance practices.
